3D Geological modelling training at BGS-UKRI offices, Keywort, Nottingham, UK
The 3D geological modelling training for GeoTwinn Work Package 1 was held on 1st – 5th April 2019, at BGS-UKRI offices in UK. The training was led by Andrew Newel, Bruce Napier, Stephen Thorpe, Martin Nayembil and Leanne Hughes, BGS-UKRI experts in 3D modelling. The training was attended by five HGI-CGS scientists that partake in WP1: Nikola Belić, Vlatko Brčić, Krešimir Petrinjak, Pavle Ferić and Dea Brunović.

BGS-UKRI expert Dan J Lapworth visits HGI-CGS for joint field training in Croatia
Field training for HGI-CGS staff in a collection of samples for emerging contaminant analysis was held from 19th to 22nd March 2019 in the karstic part of Croatia. The samples were collected at springs of different discharges and types at several different locations in Croatia. The field training was led by Dan J. Lapworth, an expert in field of emerging contaminants from BGS-UKRI, while attendees were three scientists from HGI-CGS: Jasmina Lukač Reberski, Josip Terzić and Andrej Stroj.

In arrangement with the British Geological Survey (BGS-UKRI) and Dr David Cooke, a well-known scientific paper writing training consultant (David Cooke Training Ltd) who has a long-standing experience in scientific research and journal editing within academia, 2 two‑day courses for scientific paper writing were organized at the Croatian Geological Survey (HGI-CGS). Courses were held in the period from March 11 to March 14, 2019 and were attended by altogether 29 HGI-CGS scientists.

As Croatian Geological Survey (HGI-CGS) has been working on developing a preliminary landslide susceptibility map of Croatia, based on heuristic approach, a need arose for a further complement and refinement of knowledge to enable production of landslide susceptibility analysis at scale that are suitable for spatial planning or land use management.

In the period from 4th to 23rd November 2018, fifteen-day GeoTwinn WP1 training concerning “Integrated Interpretation of Geophysical and Geological Data” and “Introduction to Advanced Reservoir Modelling” was held in Denmark.
